So Chad and I decided to embark on a trip to Boston between Christmas and my parent’s wedding anniversary this year. Chad had never been and it’s been a while since I had been up there so we packed our scarves and maps and headed up to Beantown. We were able to stay at this gorgeous Marriott hotel right on the harbor and we had an amazing view of the city.
We did everything short of the aquarium… and while I love the penguins, it would be hard to beat the Atlanta Aquarium which we visited earlier this year. I even got frostbite on my thighs at Harvard which was terrifying. Here is the story: We had taken a cab to Cambridge to explore Harvard in all of its glory. It ended up being FRIGID outside and of course the wind was blowing so hard we had trouble keeping out hats on.
We grabbed breakfast at this little diner and then braved the hurricane force winds and wandered around Harvard for a couple hours. Once we had frozen off our kahunes, we started looking for a cab to take us back to the hotel. Ever search for a cab in Cambridge? It’s worthless. There aren’t any. We had the worst time finding a cab and I felt my legs tingling beneath my jeans… and my jeans felt like they were stuck to my skin. Not pleasant. After wandering around the streets of Cambridge looking for a cab for a while, we finally found one and got back to the hotel which is were the frostbite panic ensued. We were both frozen to bits and decided to make our way to the hot tub & pool to thaw out.
This is when I noticed my legs and the frostbite. I quickly panicked and thought about how I would like my the rest of my life as an amputee and I made Chad swear that he would still love me even if I was a stump-person. Needless to say, it all worked out. No amputation. We found the best cannoli in the area
and also found a very cozy italian hole-in-the-wall restaurant where I had the best homemade pasta. That restaurant seriously had about 5 tables and a line out the door and down the sidewalk. It was fantastic. We explored Boston Common
and Beacon Hill and imagined living there in the beautiful multi-zillion dollar homes. We saw the make-way-for-ducklings Ducks
and made our way through Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.
All in all our trip was fantastic and we will definitely be visiting the city on a hill someday again….when it’s warm and sunny…. <3
